Fioricet Dosage

One or two tablets every 4 hours as needed or as directed by your doctor. Maximum dosage should not exceed 6 tablets. Fioricet will relieve a headache better if you take it as soon as the headache begins.

It is recommended to restrict Fioricet use to two days per week. Take it only in case of absolute necessity.

People suffering from frequent recurring headaches may need something different to help prevent headaches. When Fioricet use climbs to three or more days per week, it is time to initiate a preventive therapy to reduce the frequency of headaches and limit consumption of as-needed analgesic.

Overdosage and Toxicity

Following acute Fioricet overdosage, toxicity may result from the barbiturate or the acetaminophen.

The early signs of an acetaminophen overdose include loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, sweating, and general weakness.

The toxic dose of acetaminophen is >10 g. Chronic intake in excess of 4 g per day may also be toxic.

Barbiturate intoxication includes drowsiness, confusion, respiratory depression, and hypovolemic shock. The toxic dose is 1 g.
