What are Ciprofloxacin/Dexamethasone drops used for?

Ciprofloxacin/dexamethasone ear drops contain antibiotic ciprofloxacin combined with the anti-inflammatory corticosteroid dexamethasone, in a sterile, preserved suspension for otic use.

Ciprofloxacin/dexamethasone drops are used to treat middle ear infections (acute otitis media) in children with ear tubes and outer ear infections (otitis externa or "swimmer's ear" - an inflammation of the outer ear and ear canal) in both children and adults.


How to use Ciprofloxacin/Dexamethasone Drops?

Otitis Externa:
Children ≥6 months of age: 4 drops into the affected ears twice daily for 7 days.
Adults: 4 drops into the affected ears twice daily for 7 days.

Acute Otitis Media:
Children ≥6 months of age with ear tubes: 4 drops into the affected ears twice daily for 7 days.

You can warm the bottle in hands for 2-3 minutes prior to using to avoid pain, which some children have after cold drops.
